There are agencies in every state that accept and
investigate reports of elder abuse. Many of them also respond
to reports of abuse of vulnerable (younger) adults. The National
Center on Elder Abuse maintains a chart of hotlines for reporting
both domestic abuse,
neglect, and exploitation (abuse that occurs in a home or community
setting) and institutional abuse
(abuse that occurs in a nursing home or other residential health
care facility).
Note that this WordBridges website is designed primarily as a
source of news and resources for professionals who address both
domestic and institutional vulnerable adult abuse. If you would
like basic information about elder abuse such as definitions,
state laws, and other topics, we suggest you start with the National
