Elder Justice Coalition Growing
Shortly after the Elder Justice Act (EJA) was introduced into the
last Congress, the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder
Abuse (NCPEA) announced it would spearhead the formation of an Elder
Justice Coalition (EJC) to be "a strong advocacy voice not
only for the EJA, but also related bills and funding for elder abuse
and neglect prevention and intervention activities," NCPEA
President Bob Blancato told AAR.
By early April 2003, EJC had grown to over 100 organizational members
and more than 30 individuals. Membership ranges from the conservative
Family Research Council to the Gray Panthers, from the huge AARP
to the Pinal County (Arizona) Attorney's Office. Members are asked
to provide financial and/or in-kind support, although there is currently
no specific fee for joining the Coalition.
