National Center on Elder Abuse Seeking “Promising Practices”
As a focus of its fifth year work, the National Center on Elder
Abuse (NCEA) has issued a call for information on “promising
practices related to elder abuse prevention, intervention, and/or
public education.”
The net NCEA has thrown is wide. “We are interested in hearing
about any programs that you are involved with directly and/or any
programs that you have learned about -- in a conversation, at a
conference, or in a publication...please do not hesitate to include
any interesting concepts that you have heard about in the course
of your work -- at the state level, local level, federal level,
privately funded, public-private partnership, etc. In addition,
we are interested in any suggestions for identifying such information,
such as individual contacts, organizations, legislative and/or regulatory
bodies or corporations.” In another release, NCEA says it
is looking for “any interesting models, policies, legislation,
success stories, interventions, or partnerships.”
Those with ideas are asked to submit a sentence or two describing
the practice and contact information for someone who can give NCEA
more details. Callers are asked to use the National Association
of State Units on Aging phone number, 202-898-2578, and ask for
Suzanne Linnane Stack. Information
can also be sent via fax (202-898-2583); email (sstack@nasua.org);
or mail (National Center on Elder Abuse, 1201 15th Street, N.W.,
Suite 350, Washington, D.C. 20005).
No deadline for submissions has been given.
